Exam in 7 days
With seven days left, start with a diagnostic mock exam, spend days 2 to 5 on your weakest topics, take two mock exams on day 6 and keep day 7 for light review and rest. According to the Portale dell'Automobilista, the real test has 30 statements, 20 minutes and 3 mistakes at most.
What does the test being prepared for look like?
The plan only works if it mirrors the real exam. For licence B the test is taken on a computer and consists of 30 statements to mark true or false. The time limit is 20 minutes. The test is passed with at most 3 mistakes: a fourth mistake means a fail. Candidates with a DSA certificate are entitled to the audio file and to more time.
How are the seven days organised?
The plan below reads the mock exam history saved in the browser and suggests which topics to work on. The table sums up the structure, which also works without any history.
| Day | Activity | Goal |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | One full mock exam (30 statements, 20 minutes) | Count the mistakes and note the topics |
| 2 | Weakest topic: theory and topic quizzes | Understand the rule, not the answer |
| 3 | Second weak topic, then saved mistakes | Cut repeated mistakes |
| 4 | Third weak topic and road signs | Cover the topics with the most wrong answers |
| 5 | One mock exam, then targeted review of mistakes | Check progress against day 1 |
| 6 | Two mock exams a few hours apart | Keep the pace and stay within 3 mistakes |
| 7 | Trap-word glossary, no new study | Arrive rested |

The plan below is the general one. After your first mock exam this page fits it to your weakest topics and to the criteria you still need to meet.
This site's readiness criteria
Criteria chosen by this site, not an official measure and not a guarantee: at least 5 full mock exams, the last 3 within 3 errors, all 20 topics with at least 10 answers, none below 80%.

How can readiness be judged?
No official criterion exists. A cautious one does: several full mocks in a row within 3 mistakes, taken in the full 20 minutes and with statements not seen the day before. A single good result can depend on which questions came up. If mistakes stay above the limit on day 6, ask the driving school or the office whether the date can be moved, before using one of the two attempts the application allows.
What happens if...? Two worked cases
A candidate in Genoa takes the day 1 mock and makes 9 mistakes, almost all on right of way and danger signs. He spends days 2, 3 and 4 on those two topics and by day 6 is down to 2 and 3 mistakes. He sits the exam with a measured margin, not a hope.
A candidate in Florence, a native Spanish speaker, finds out three days before the exam that audio support can be requested. She has no DSA certificate and did not attach the request to her application: according to the Naples Motorizzazione notice, without that request the examiner does not allow audio. She sits the test without support and, if a second attempt is needed, must ask her office how to proceed.
Which mistakes should be avoided in the last week?
- Studying everything again instead of focusing on weak topics.
- Doing only topic quizzes, with no timed mocks.
- Reading too fast: words such as sempre, solo, mai, può and deve change the meaning of a statement.
- Memorising answers: in the exam the same rule can appear in different wording.
- Doing mocks late into the night before the test.
What is needed on exam day?
- A valid ID document: identity checks come before the test.
- Arrive early for your call time.
- No payment: the N067 fee was paid with the application.
- Audio support: for candidates with a DSA certificate the portal says no further formalities are needed. In the other cases allowed (for example foreign citizens) the request is filed with the licence application, so it cannot be arranged at the last minute.

Frequently asked questions
Are 7 days enough to prepare for the patente B theory test?
It depends on the starting point. Seven days are enough to consolidate and fix weak topics; starting from zero, they are usually not. The day 1 mock gives the measure: with far more than 3 mistakes, postponing is worth considering.
How many mock exams should be taken before the theory test?
There is no official number. A cautious rule is to reach the exam with several consecutive mocks within 3 mistakes, not with a single good result.
What should be brought on theory exam day?
A valid ID document. The N067 payment was already made with the application, so no other payment is needed.
Can audio support be requested at the last minute?
For candidates with a DSA certificate, the Portale dell'Automobilista says the audio file is due without further formalities. In the other cases listed by the Naples Motorizzazione office, for example foreign citizens, the request goes in with the licence application and cannot be made on test day.
How long is the patente B theory test?
20 minutes for 30 true or false statements. The test is passed with at most 3 mistakes.
What happens if the test goes badly?
On the same application it can be retaken once, after at least one month and within six months of the application. Details are on the page about failing the theory test.
